This is not the best Brazilian steak house. This seems like a low budget steak house not like Texas de or rodizio. The salad bar is old, steak is dry, not fried bananas was offer ( which is important) this $ hit suck

I'm going to come at this from a different angle than most- I went as a vegetarian but with a group of six meat eaters- three of which tried every-single-meat-option. First, I will say there is an abundance of variety- which is a huge, massive pro for me. I can't imagine you'd have to walk out without having found SOMETHING you were happy with and wanted more of, in regards to meat or the large array of non-meat foods one might expect would be an afterthought (not so!). The salad bar isn't quite the traditional salad bar- it had cold vegetable sides as well as pasta salads and chicken salads so that was an unexpected plus. Though it doesn't have the array of traditional salad toppings- which is more than fine since it has plenty of alternative options. Next: the hot bar. Another unexpected plus. As one commenter called it: most people consider this a waste of stomach space- but there is enough to make your own meal of sides- so you can reassure your vegetarian or meat-picky friend there are plenty of delicious sides- including mashed potatoes, marinated mushrooms (delicious!), rice, beans, and broccoli alfredo (the only very lackluster option). Also, it gives the option of adding a small side to a specific meat that might pair well with it to add some flair if you want more than just straightforward meat. Lastly, they bring even MORE food to your table! Fried bananas, cheesy rolls, and fried polenta! And all of this is included in one flat (reasonable) price- unlimited meat, salad, bar, hot bar, and the sides they bring to the table. And there's a much lower salad bar only price which actually includes the hot bar. There is definitely too much food to experience everything, so if you're a meat purist you will gladly ignore all the extra, but if you're curious enough to want to try a smattering of the sides, salad bar, and other things- prepare to have to make some hard choices! Not a bad problem to have! As for the meat- my boyfriend was floored by the flank steak. It was the last cut he had and despite having had 15 pieces of meat ALREADY it still stood out. Everyone ate the table liked about 85-90% of the meats they tried (those who tried every kind), with at least two favorites they would have had more of, and usually only one type of meat they didn't care for. Only one cut was dry according to my boyfriend. Plus, if you do want to have a well rounded experience- the desserts were worth saving room. Again, something you'd think would be a half ****ed afterthought at a place where there is such a focus on the meat- was surprisingly well done. Everyone left full and happy and I was thrilled that it was a steakhouse that had more than enough options to please even the non-meat eater! Just make sure you are STARVING if you want to get the full experience. We went on a Sunday night and it had very few customers so service was insanely impeccable. we could barely keep up with all the meats and our requests were handled quickly. I don't know what it's like on a Friday/Saturday but I would advice a Sunday night for the great service we received! All around we were happy- though I don't think any of us have been to this type of place. If you are going in with comparisons, I have no idea how it would measure up- but if you've never been to this style of restaurant I simply can't imagine you'd be disappointed.

I had no problems like a few of the commenters. Beef was medium to medium rare - the correct way. Lamb was succulent and sausage tasty. Salad bar was more then enough. Service was great. Decor was a little dark and out of touch with the type of food. Note to the person complaining about being ignored when requesting well done meat. Your review is not fair. Chefs save the worst meat for customers who request well done. If you want well done beef go to McDonalds and stay away from steak houses. I worked in a world class place in NYC - chef refused to serve well done.

We never tried a restaurant like this before so we didn't know what to expect. The person who seated us was nice and our server was too. We were explained how it works and then we made our way to salad bar. We were surprised of the variety that they offered although everything was random-to us at least. There was many things I'd never seen on a salad bar. Once we sat back down the meat came over. At first they brought it quickly but once we finished what we had (I think 4 diff ones) there wasn't any more coming. We sat and waited for awhile. The meat came slowly. It was all hot but some was overcooked-badly. We made a complaint and they said they'd refire. They did and it was better. We came on a slow night (there was one other table present) so maybe that's why we experienced what we did. Can't say for sure. We probably won't go again but it was an interesting experience. Oh, and I was going to give 3 stars but the super nice waitress and the one gaucho earned them one more.

I've been here about 4 times since the opening. 4 out of 5 stars. And yes, I've been to Fogo in major cities. I think the meat that comes around is 4 out of 5 stars. You have to ask for what you want. Don't expect that if you want top sirloin that is medium-well, that the gauchos are going to have a piece on there medium-rare. You have to ask for the next go around to be a medium-rare piece. I'm personally not a fan of the garlic chicken/pork. Too much garlic to me. The beef and home made sausage tastes great, and as well as the lamb. I don't eat the sides, because I am not there for filler. So I can't comment on them. The salad bar is perfect, I've never had anything bad on it. I could probably fill up on the meat, cheeses, and shrimp on the bar. I've never had major issues with my glass going empty. I'd say the place is not up to the look and feel that a Fogo presents itself to be. But I' m not there for a fancy dinner. I want the food. And the food is good. If you want to eat fancy, go down to Husk or Peninsula Grill. Biggest help. If something comes out not cooked to your liking, don't take it, ask for that cut of meat in your desired temperature. They will bring it out.

I was part of a party of 6 to enjoy this place Saturday night and ee had an excellent time. The wait staff was very courteous and knowledgable about the meats that were brought to the table. There was none of the waiting for food described in the other reviews - I had several selections of meat arrive within moments of flipping over my token. The salad bar was full of fresh items and the accompanying hot bar was also kept full. The wine selection was good and our waiter kept the glasses full. We had a very pleasant experience and we plan to visit again soon.

Worst service ever! Had a reservation and had to wait forever to get seated and then when we turned the disc'a over to green it too 25 minutes or so to get anyone to bring meat to our table! At other Brazilian steak houses I have been too they would constantly be at your table. Not here!! It was hard to get our monies worth here because no one brought much. I asked for a glass with my beer that I ordered and they told me they didn't know if they had any clean glasses! What??? Salad bar was low on everything! It's a Saturday night, I would think you would plan for that!!? Never saw any management walking around to even ask how our meal was. Our regular server that brought us our drinks was trying to stay in top of everything but was just overwhelmed. Will not be returning and wish I could get my money back because we certainly did not eat that much!

Went again because of a birthday. Never again. Horrible meat quality. Never saw half the stuff they claim to offer. Once again I found one cut of meat somewhat decent and only saw two slivers of it. Their "filet" tastes like freezer burn. Your choices here are burnt to a crisp or raw. Completely inconsistent. Service was bad this time. Our server, who was the bartender, could not tell us what soft drinks were available. Never again. Never.

Quite good :) The spread on the hot and cold bar was nice. Lots of vegetables, cheese, salad & seafood items. I don't eat pork or lamb but there was plenty of beef & chicken to go around- hard to save room for dessert tho. They also have this delicious sweet and sour Brazilian cocktail somewhere between a mojito and margarita =) The only problem is that our conversations kept being interupted by the staff even though are cards were turned to red-

A great place for Brazilian steak. My favorite was the Flank steak.

I know there have been complaints, but I can't come up with any. We had a great experience and will definitely be going back!

My husband and I very much enjoyed our experience here and we will be back! All of the staff were personable and our waiter, Raymond, gave us superb service and made us feel as though we were the only customers there. Thank you!

i was a little worried about going here after reading some negative reviews, but i am really glad i went. Our waiter went out of his way to make sure our glasses stayed full and if we wanted an type of meat that was going around the room he got it for us. The salad bar and hot bar were really good. i was overstuffed when i was done. i had the key lime pie for dessert and it was really good and the presentation on the plate was nothing less than high class. the decor was really nice and i felt really taken care of. i had so much meat on my plate at one time i lost track of what was what. if you feel like the gauchos are not bringing you what you want ask your waiter and he will get it for you. i would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something special. it was pricey but for how much i ate and the quality you cant beat it. our waiter didn't even charge us for my 3 yr old to eat off the cold bar.

Great experience. Everyone was very pleasant. We had a great waiter that was very attentive, making sure everyone had everything they wanted or needed. The gauchos brought around all the meat and will give you as much or as little as you'd like. The skewered pineapple was very good. The "salad bar" had everything from cheeses and salads to deli meats and marinated mushrooms. Even the portions for the desserts were well worth the $5-6 and delicious. If you are trying to decide whether to try this restaurant, then go for it. You won't be sorry you did.

My wife went there for her Birthday. The slices of meat they give is very skimpy. The waiter (John) that served us got our drinks at first. then i had to flag down the hostess to get a refill. I also had to get my bill from the hostess, because our waiter was to busy giving all of his attention to a dinner party in the center of the room. I tried to write them to let them know what had happened and their email does not work. We will never go back there.

I went hoping to really enjoy this place since the concept is very interesting. Unfortunately the food was absolutely disgusting. Everything is sub par at best, bland, tasteless with a common flavor wether you are tasting filet, chicken or pork. The service was average and the interior of the restaurant was old and dark. Will not be going back.

I have now been to this restaurant twice, once with a group of 4 and once with a group of 12. It went very smoothly both times. I see that there are reviews in regards to receiving bad service, but I assure you we did not experience that! The service was outstanding both times! The gauchos came by so quickly the first time, that I had to make sure not to flip my card to green until I got my salad the second time! The servers made sure to come by and ask if there was anything we wanted to see again a few seperate times. We did order some drinks, which are not too overpriced (I expected it to be a lot more!) and they made the Mojito-like drink at the table. Now for the food- Very very good! I was a bit surprised how good the salad bar was, which has deli meats (Pastrami is very good), salmon, cheeses, apple salad (I was pleasantly surprised), potato salad, and chicken salad (I would recommend). The meat was very good and plentiful (Sometimes I had too much on my plate!). My favorites are the house special, Beef Rib, and Bacon-Wrapped Filet Mignon. You can get rare-medium well, which is surprising as most Brazilian Steakhouses I have been to did not offer such a wide range, but usually only medium rare. I prefer the rarer side, but we had someone in our party who prefers closer to well done (eww!). If you're on the fence and aren't sure if you should try this restaurant, I definitely recommend it. If you've never had a Brazilian steak house, you should definitely try one and the Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse is a great option!

They still have to figure some stuff out. The service isn't great- my Brazilian steakhouse experiences have been as soon as you sit down, you turn the card to green and you cant keep the meat servers away. Here, my card stayed on green and I had to wave servers over the entire time Until I left due to boredom and I was sick of waiting for meat. The salad bar is usually impressive too- consisted of chintzy salami, ham, lots of what looked to be store bought, mayonnaise filled pasta salads and some of the poorest blue cheese I've eaten. The server Ken was great, attentive and when the table described what types of meet we wanted, he delivered. If they were all like him, it would run much smoother. Long story short, this can't be viewed as an expensive fine dining Brazilian experience. They should not charge as such and then as long as you are prepared for a mediocre experience, it'll be fine! Would recommend against it to anyone who asked.

Kevin B and Michael S hit the nail on the head. I've been to 3 other Brazilian steakhouses in other states (not Rioz in Myrtle Beach) and this Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse is a comparative "1" out of 5 stars! I was disappointed with the service and the meats. If you order well-done meats you will be virtually neglected. Even after talking with the manager who managed to get us some meats, that lasted all of 5 minutes. Then I got some meat that almost made me upchuck, which tells you something about either the freshness of their meat or the cleanliness or vengeance of certain employees. The salad bar and drinks were good enough to get this place an extra star. While I appreciate that Charleston needs this type of business, this place really needs to step up their game. I will not return, so unless you have never had a Brazilian experience, I will not recommend this place. Even then I'd say go to Rioz first.

The staff were very pleasant. The food was adequate but not exceptional. My prime rib was dry and over cooked. The salad bar was awesome. It took a long time for the gauchos to come to the table with new food. Sometimes we had to flag them down. I have been to several of these restaurants all over the country. I won't go back here.

I've eaten at several of these restaurants and the service is always great. Not at this one! Seriously, we watched people around us get service while we sat with no refills. The salad bar was very good as was the steak when the servers decided to leave their friend's tables and serve us. Toward the end of our meal a couple allowed their children to play through the food. The little girl even had her hair in the salad dressing! When the waiter was told by the manager to take our check, he never said one word. My family has worked in the restaurant industry at different times in our lives and we are always courteous, considerate and tip well. To the reviewer that said "go to Golden Corral instead of this place," I concur. The worst part of this cheap labor type business plan, is they miss out on good returning customers or in attracting nice customers because of the poorly trained or paid staff.

STAY AWAY...Yes...if you care about your waist line...STAY AWAY. This place is AWESOME. When we arrived, the owner opened the door and welcomed us in. We were quickly seated and the server explained how everything worked. We went to the salad bar..where there is enough choices even for Buggs Bunny, including salmon and shrimp that you can add to your salad. I didn't try the hot dishes because I came for the meat!. My wife didn't care much for the Brazilian Collard Greens cause she's a southern girl who like meat in her green. Then they came..the meat server..with all of the succulent meat. OK..I dont' eat pork..so I didn't have those..but my wife did..and she devoured it. The beef and lamb..excellent. I like my meat medium well to well done..and the servers..made sure that was what I got....WHAT SERVICE!

I saw some of the one stars commenting on poor service. Our service was great. Never a wait. I spoke to one of the service staff and she said they got slammed last week and were overwhelmed. A younger workforce was my observation. Food was good. As expected for a BZ steak house. Appropriate for the price. Service was very good. Atmosphere was a bit off. Had an old holiday inn vibe but that was not a big deal. Would give 4 stars once it matures a bit and gets buzzing with a Rio vibe. Give it a try, especially if you like an endless parade of meat.

The meat and buffet options were delightful and the gauchos were friendly, funny, and generous with portions while managing to bring a never-ending supply of meat to my plate. Unfortunately I must rate 3 stars because our server was really just not that good. When I'm consuming my body weight in meat, I'm going to need my drink to never run dry and for my plates of discarded meat remnants and bone to not clutter my table. Our waiter did not do any of these things well, and as a result our table's experience was significantly impacted. I will return for another visit and hopefully rate higher with better waitstaff.
